Green Claim # 00001

Claim # 00001

The Violator: Unknown person

The Crime: Leaving trash by elevator

EXAMPLE CLAIM

The Violator: Dirty Joe

The Crime: Throwing trash out of car onto street

I witnessed Dirty Joe get out of his car and throw trash in the street.  I took this picture and watched him walk into his business.  I’ve included the address so he can be set straight.  What a rude inconsiderate punk!

This is an example of a short claim.  You can upload a photo as evidence.  The more info you submit the better.  Time, date, location, etc.  Let’s catch these environmental abusers.  You can be a green deputy working for green justice, but you get to be anonymous and I’ll take the heat!

Smoking Ban in Michigan.

I have spent a few months in Michigan now and I have to say I’ve never gotten used to the crazy smoking that goes on here.  It is still allowed in restaurants.  You are asked if you want smoking or non-smoking, but there is nothing dividing the sections.  So regardless you will leave stinking like a fat cigarette.  After going anywhere I have to immediately wash my clothes because they reek.  And smoking rules here, there is no consideration that maybe you don’t want cigarette smoke in your face.  It’s pretty awesome, and by awesome I mean, it’s disgusting.  I am leaving good old Michigan, but happy to see progress is being made on the smoking ban!

What is Green Justice?

Green Justice became an idea about a year ago after I witnessed a man get out of his parked car in front of his business and take his fast food trash, walk to the curb, and toss it in the street.  Then he went inside.  I was in total disbelief.  How does one make a conscious choice to throw his trash in the street instead of take it inside where he’s going already?  Several thoughts came to me.  How can communities get green and clean when their own neighbors are part of the problem.  So I wrote down the name of the business, the address and phone number and a description of the car.  I planned on calling and complaining, turning this man in, but I chickened out because it could be a horrible confrontation.  So instead I submitted my claim to anonymouspostcard.org.  Very brave of me don’t you think?

This incident led me to the idea of a green gossip site if you will.  A form of public accountability.  Throw your cigarette butt out of your car window and I might just be there getting your license plate and photo and post it on Green Justice!

Please join me in exposing those leaving a big nasty carbon footprint.  You can also post helpful tips and suggestions.  Maybe you want to start a neighborhood group or petition for a cause, or maybe you just want to vent.  This blog is the place to do your Green Justice work.

I’m new to blogging, so please be patient.  I will be working diligently to add great content, but I need your help.  Please share your thoughts.  Thanks and come again!
