More and more people today are realizing the importance of “going green” however many fail to look beyond food packaging and the other usual suspects. One place many people don’t even think about is their furniture. To most of us, furniture is either utilitarian or decorative, but we don’t think of it in terms of environmental friendliness. I’m not suggesting throwing out an old entertainment center that may not live up to these criteria, but if you’re in the market for new furniture, here are some things to consider before making a purchase.

I know putting the words meatless and burger together is sacrilegious to some. And 99% of the time I would agree because I have a soft spot for cheeseburgers. I’m now in month 8 of being vegetarian and the one thing that continues to make it hard is a good cheeseburger. I found a veggie burger that is worth talking about. I had the “Earth Burger” at Umami Burger in Hollywood. It was made with rice and edamame. The thing that pushed it to the top was the seasoning. When I took my first bite, I had to look down and make sure they didn’t mess up and give me meat. The texture wasn’t spot on, but it was close enough that I stared at it for a good 30 seconds and considered asking the waiter if it was really vegetarian.
Today is Meatless Monday, so maybe go veggie burger and tell me what you find. I need more than one place to satisfy my burger cravings!

Life on Earth is awesome! We all want to enjoy our time here and live the good life. Everyone’s ideas about the good life are different, but for most people living the good life means being able to purchase more and more. Perhaps the good life should translate into thinking the good life is the green life: being environmentally friendly, consuming less and recycling and reusing. Living the green life is good and beneficial for everyone and the environment.
It’s time to start changing habits and thinking small and slow: small houses, smaller cars, slow food…think, small is beautiful, slow is wonderful. Our world is consuming goods at an excessive rate. People generally tend to think the bigger the better, but what if we changed our mindset to think small is beautiful and less is really more? (more…)

I saw a real life plastic bag guy on Halloween, so of course I had to take a picture with him. We had a lovely conversation about doing away with bags and general environmental issues. I’m guessing that since he slurred his way through it that he probably won’t remember our meaningful conversation. Well what can you expect on Halloween in West Hollywood. Anyhow, point being, plastic bags are awful. They are polluting everything, the streets, sidewalks, waterways and oceans. Have you heard of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch? The lovely formation of trash larger than Texas. How pretty. Let’s help reduce the plastic making it’s way into the ocean. Turn down a bag if you don’t need one or use a reusable bag. Once you’re in the habit it’s easy as pie, so join in and STOP USING PLASTIC BAGS!
