I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again, Jon Stewart really knows how to make a point.  If I had lots of researchers pulling all the info and media clips it would help get my point across about the oil spill too.  Luckily we all have Jon Stewart!  Watch this clip about the BP oil spill.

When British Petroleum (BP) applied for a permit to build the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico and begin drilling, it claimed to have the technology and know-how to handle any oil spill.

But in the face of an actual spill, BP is much less confident. “This scares everybody: the fact that we can’t make this well stop flowing, the fact that we haven’t succeeded so far,” BP CEO Doug Suttles said. “Many of the things we’re ­trying have been done on the surface before, but have never been tried at 5,000 ft.” (more…)

At work we order from Staples online.  While I love the next day delivery of office supplies, I am left wondering who in the hell packed this stuff.  I have had several shipments, mostly a small order, but I receive boxes that would reflect I’m starting my own office supply store.  One box of pens packed in an oversized box with plastic air packing.  This has happened on several occasions.  This time, we ordered 12 ounce coffee cups, the compostable and said to be “green” cups.  The next day we received 6 huge boxes.  We thought, “what in the heck did we order?”  The boxes were oddly light. Thinking there was lots to unpack in these gigantic boxes, we waited until the end of the day to reveal what was contained in them.

To our surprise and shock, each box contained just one sleeve of cups and a bunch of packing. Was this a joke?  Are Staples employees having fun with packing??  I ordered the environmentally friendly cups and you wasted boxes and packing as if I’d ordered thousands of cups, or for that matter, something fragile like glass to be packed with so many plastic air-filled pouches.  Oh Staples, you will be hearing from me!
