It’s the holidays as we all know. So there will be a small hiatus for Green Justice postings. But we’re back in LA and ready to hit the ground running in the new year.
If you’ve got a green bone to pick with a person, business or whatever, tell Green Justice about it! Justice will be served in 2010!

My first caught on camera (sort of) incident. While driving home the car in front of me threw out their burning cigarette butt. So I took a picture of their license plate. I spoke with the local Troy Police Department to see if any justice could be served. They were very nice and explained that an officer has to witness the act to give a ticket. It is considered littering. It is NO different than throwing any other trash out of your window. SO cigarette butt throwers, you know who you are, stop littering up the streets with your tobacco leftovers.
P.S. The police said as a citizen I can file a claim and take the person to court if I want, but it would be my word against theirs. Guess I need to practice my “catch them in the act” camera skills!
This photo was taken on Crooks across from the Royal Oak High School. Hope this isn’t your friend.
Hi Michigan BDT 7160, you’re on camera…

CorpWatch defines greenwashing as “the phenomenon of socially and environmentally destructive corporations attempting to preserve and expand their markets by posing as friends of the environment.”
Check out this article on a few “greenwashes” that have been going on. It even includes McDonald’s claiming to be green if you can believe that. Oh yes, when I think green the name McDonald’s comes to mind first. I also enjoyed the “Go Green” Hummer. Don’t get me started on “green” hummer owners. But have no fear, our youth will get us on the right track by growing up with “Eco-Conscious Barbie.” WE ARE SAVED!!!

On December 17th, LA County is holding the A Day Without a Bag event. It’s organized by Heal the Bay and promotes people carrying their own reusable bags. All you have to do is drop by one of the many giveaway locations to get yours.
If you read the facts on plastic bags it is really sad and unfortunate. But it’s something we have a solution for. Get a reusable bag and USE IT!!!!!!!

I have spent a few months in Michigan now and I have to say I’ve never gotten used to the crazy smoking that goes on here. It is still allowed in restaurants. You are asked if you want smoking or non-smoking, but there is nothing dividing the sections. So regardless you will leave stinking like a fat cigarette. After going anywhere I have to immediately wash my clothes because they reek. And smoking rules here, there is no consideration that maybe you don’t want cigarette smoke in your face. It’s pretty awesome, and by awesome I mean, it’s disgusting. I am leaving good old Michigan, but happy to see progress is being made on the smoking ban!
